TRIBUTE x AleXa
Welcome back to where we contribute with Tribute, a space where we interview collaborators and their charity of choice for our current collection. We were given the chance to not only interview, but also collaborate with the multi-talented sensation AleXa! Although she was busy preparing for her comeback, AleXa made sure to set aside some time to find 
a way to contribute with Tribute to the Good Neighbors foundation. This Tribute x AleXa collection called Close to Your Heart is very endearing to the heart.
To get into why she chose the tagline “Close to Your Heart”, AleXa explained how children often cuddle their stuffed animals close to their heart. So, she wanted to maintain the purity of the children’s hearts. She also spoke about how she created the design of this collection, keeping that tagline in mind, by putting a heart on the left side. It wasn’t just in the literal sense of where the heart is, but also for the underlying meaning of keeping things you find precious dear to your heart.
We then interviewed AleXa about her style, contribution with Tribute, comeback, and more!

Personal Style
“My style — how to describe — I’d say, on a good day, it’s pretty street — not necessarily tech wear but street. But on a bad day — I throw on sweatpants and a t-shirt and call that fashion.”

AleXa explained her designing process in great detail, starting with once she figured out what concept and direction she wanted to head towards, everything began to fall into place and “that’s when the teddy bear (design) came into play”.
She then continued explaining how “the AleXa brand is ‘more is even more’ and had to add to the patch design with “a little outline of the heart” then threw in the “happy face”. These designs bring back inspirations from the 90’s and youth, which also happened to perfectly tie back to her comeback concept.

Tribute x AleXa CLOSE TO YOUR HEART CAMPAIGN
AleXa stemmed around how she “wanted to focus on her childhood” with this project. It is something that she puts close to her heart because she truly feels that “childhood is something very precious'' and something that we often “take for granted”. She circumvented the idea of how sometimes “you don’t know what you have until it’s gone”. Then detailed how she desired to preserve the innocence and spread the happiness felt during our childhood.
AleXa also reminded us that “no matter how good you might be doing, there’s always someone that might need help” and so she wanted to focus on the “younger generation for this” project to ensure that our future leaders get the assistance they need.

If you had to pay tribute to someone, who would it be?
“My parents — specifically my mom. People may or may not know, but my mom is a Korean adoptee who was originally from an orphanage in Ilsan, Korea. And so, that’s kind of why I wanted to focus this campaign on helping children because that was once my mother, so I’m carrying it on for her.”

Having grown up in a multicultural household 
                            – how did the cultures shape your identity? 
“Well, because my mom was a korean adoptee she was adopted when she was 5, so she wasn’t super in touch with her Korean-side so to say — but despite that, we did grow up eating a lot of kimchi in my house, very stereotypical, but we did grow up with that”. AleXa went on about how blessed her family was to be able to bring inspirations from all their cultures into their lives. She then continued about how because her “family is very multicultural — (they) are very open and perceptive to other cultures — through different music, movies, food”. She also feels that the way her parents raised her helps her to “be a very open-minded” and accepting individual.

COMEBACK
She spoke about how if you look at hair then her merch it would easily clue us into the concept her comeback is headed towards. AleXa intrigues us as she told us how her upcoming concept “is very different from the AleXa you’ve seen so far — with this comeback we wanted to focus on showcasing — a complete mirror flip, image of what you’re used to so very bright, very colorful, and youthful”.

What do you want your fans to take away from this merchandise?
AleXa reiterates that “no matter how happy and well off we might be feeling, there’s always someone that is going to need help — so never be afraid to reach out”. She also added how she feels that her fandom is already “a very wonderful, loving, and caring fandom”. Thus, she “wanted to take some inspiration from their constant love — kindness — support and put that into this line”. AleXa concluded by informing us that the highlight of the Close To Your Heart campaign is to “spread the whole idea of supporting other people” and their happiness.
